I'm so happy that I went in the end but the main thing that I didn't realize is that there are so many temples in Siem Reap.
The number one thing on my list of things to do in Siem Reap is to visit the floating villages. I cannot recommend this enough. It was my absolute favourite thing that I did in Siem Reap. The village that I went to was called Kampong Phluk, and it was so incredible. We got to sit on top of a boat and it just drove really slowly and really not intrusively through this village. It truly felt like a living and breathing working village, the people actually living there and sending their kids to school there. They had churches and they used to have a hospital back in the days. They've got markets and it's so incredible to see a place that was actually authentic, because I went to floating villages in Vietnam and they were like this floating village. But pretty sure people don't still live here, but this one it was actually very real and it was so interesting to see. There are three different villages you can choose from; the one that I went to is called Kampong Phluk and there are two others, but the other two have a reputation for ripping off the tourists. Basically, they charge a really high fee for things or some of them will even say like you should buy these books and pens for kids to go to school. But then you know they just keep the money for themselves and they don't even give the stuff to the school. Maybe they do some research beforehand. I barely even had the opportunity to buy something which was amazing, because that's the number one thing that I hate the most when I go on tours. The next step on my list is Kulen Mountain; there's a waterfall on top of the mountain an ancient pagoda and a giant incline buddha. It was interesting, very visually impressive and very interesting to see, the local believe swimming or dipping into the water (waterfall) will bring fortune and prosperity. There are plenty of souvenir shops, but the real most exciting part of it is a waterfall and it was absolutely beautiful. This massive waterfall is surrounded by so much nature and you get to swim in the bottom. It's just really beautiful, I really love this place. The main negative aspect that I can think of is that it's a two-hour drive away; therefore, it’s better to bring a headphone. The next thing that I would highly recommend is please go and see the Cambodian fair. You can definitely do that at night-time. I think I went to the fair at about 5:00 p.m. I saw a lot of circus shows. The most unique and powerful thing about it was that all of the circus performers used to be once poor hungry children, starving on the streets of Cambodia. Basically, you can tell by the way they're performing. They've got such an incredible life experience and it immediately comes out through their performance. It was so much powerful and more touching than any museum or history. I can highly recommend that to everyone. It was only nineteen dollars and the quality of performance was really good and of course all of the money goes back straight into the circus where they are helping to get kids off the street. The next on my list is to take a cooking class. I took a cooking class and I had such a fun time and you get to do so much considering the little amount of money that you pay. They're quite cheap in Cambodia. You get to cook like three different meals and they teach you all the cooking methods. They take you through the markets to find the foods stuffs that you need to cook it, and then they teach you how to cook it. It's a different kind of cultural experience that you can get. It's a little bit different from the norm and I loved my cooking class in Siem Reap. I would recommend that to someone going there. The next on my list is my favourite thing to do in any country I visit. I check out the markets. There're so many markets in Cambodia. In the main area it's not a particularly a large city or like town centre, but there's just hundreds of shops. It's amazing! There are a lot of interesting things to buy. I was able to buy some things that I liked. At night-time it's really cool because the entire place lights up and they've got all kinds of like ice cream shops everywhere. There are a million and one different massage places that you can go to, and everything is so cheap. I got a massage at least once every day. I got like two in one day and it was just no regrets and lots of places where you can put your feet in the fish tanks and then the fish like nibble at your feet. My next point is pub Street. Pub Street is basically same kind of area but at night-time. It’s just lined with all kinds of different pubs selling all kinds of cheap alcohol. You can buy a beer for fifty cents, fifty US cents. You can get a cocktail for like a dollar. Something like that it's just mental. It’s crazy. I think I bought like one drink. The last thing on my list is one thing that I didn't get to do, but actually going to see the Siem Reap circus. It made me actually really want to go to a museum for the first time ever in my life. I found myself wanting to check out one of the museums. It's a home and they've got a dark history, but somehow the people there are so beautiful. Everyone has a smile on their face and so kind and so caring and giving. I just loved the people there. They're just so warm and welcoming. It was truly amazing anyway. I could keep talking about this for a very long time. Obviously, that's my list of things to do in Siem Reap. Best Coffee Shop in Siem ReapThere is approximately over 900+ accommodation alone in Siem Reap, thats is more than 20% than in the capital city. This tiny town certainly accommodate over 3 milions visitors each year and counting, so that’s why business is thriving quite fast for the city of temples, but then you probably could imagine how many other businesses operated here as well such as souvenirs shop, restaurants, travel agents to coffeeshop. Today we like to cover which is the best coffee shop in Siem Reap. Coffees or Frappe? Our most favorite drink here is Hot Latte which is only $1.68 after discount (They had a discount promotion) which is at the very best price we have ever paid for a great latte, according to their supervisor the coffee beans is from local farmer in Modolkiri Province and then transport to Phnom Penh where their manufacturer hand picks each beans before processing and packaging, so the coffees is at it highest quality and fresh. Not only that Berm Berm Coffees also offers many variety of teas selection and Smoothie Frappe, their ingredients is imported from the France and Italy, and the taste according to our team is top notch although we didn’t have any discount on Smoothie/Frappe which is cool. How To Get There?Berm Berm Coffees is located in Melbourne Residence - Siem Reap, North-East to the Cambodian Cultural Village. You can also use google map to search for Berm Berm Coffees and ask for direction.
